Artificial Intelligence Applications in Education - Current and Future Trends

Abstract :Introduction: Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) market is estimated to grow to $ 118.6 Billion by 2025. Global AI usage in Education alone is predicted to reach $ 5.8 Billion by 2025. There are already hundreds of AI tools and apps in the market. Components of AI: AI broadly encompasses the following five (5) components; Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), Neural Networks (NN) and Generative AI. Each has numerous subcomponents and architecture, some of which are synopsized in the presentation. AI Trends in Education: Based on the author’s nearly two decades of tertiary medical educational experience, and after carefully culling through the available information, the following eight (8) AI usages in education were identified, and their status and future trends were analyzed in the presentation. (A) AI usage in assessments and tests; (B) Task automation; (C) Personalized learning; (D) Universal accessibility; (E) Teacher learning; (F) Smart learning content creation; (G) Classroom weakness identification; and (H) Round-the-clock (RTC) assistance.
