Study On The Diversity And Seasonal Variation Of The Phytoplankton Community In The Back Water Of The Pulichintala Project, Krishna River, Suryapet, Telangana, India.

Abstract : Phytoplankton community of freshwater bodies consist an extremely diverse assemblage organism. Extensive works on ecology, diversity and seasonal variation of Phytoplankton have been carried out by many Indian researchers in different freshwater bodies of India. But, knowledge about the plankton present in Krishna River in Pulichintal project Suryapet district, is yet not known. Present studies focused towards the understanding of the plankton diversity, ecology and their importance as, bioindicators of water quality and to assess the trophic status of water body. In the present study 22 genera of algae, 12 genera of diatom among phytoplankton, were identified and recorded in list, which was studied from March 2022 to February 2024. To summarize, the present investigation indicates that Krishna River in pulichintal is subjected to higher degraded impact and it is essential to take immediate steps for protection of this valuable resource.
