Author : Mohammad H. Al-Towaiq, Tamem Y. Al-Shorman

Abstract :The telegraph equation describes the voltage and current on an electrical transmission line with distance and time. οΏ½ οΏ½2𝑒 𝑑π‘₯2 with the initial conditions: =𝛼𝑑2𝑒 𝑑𝑑2 +𝛽𝑑𝑒 𝑑𝑑 +𝛢𝑒 οΏ½ οΏ½(π‘₯,0) = πœ™1(π‘₯) , 𝑒𝑑(π‘₯,0) = πœ™2(π‘₯) and the boundary conditions οΏ½ οΏ½(0,𝑑) = πœ“1(𝑑) , 𝑒π‘₯(0,𝑑) = πœ“2(𝑑) where πžͺ, 𝞫 and 𝜰 are positive constants and πœ™1(π‘₯),πœ™2(π‘₯),πœ“1(𝑑),and πœ“2(𝑑) are continuous functions. In this paper, we introduce a numerical solution for the one-dimensional telegraph equation based on the finite difference scheme. The numerical results show the applicability, efficiency, and accuracy of the method compared with other methods.
