Participatory Model As A Tool For Campus Put Transformation According To Users' Preferences

Abstract : Urban development is a constant, ongoing metamorphosis and a process of constant transformation. Spatial planning that takes into account sustainable development requires maintaining a sensible balance between infrastructure, community, and the environment. While infrastructural development, including renewable energy sources and attention to blue-green infrastructure, allows for reliable assessment and the establishment of clear directions for further development, the social aspect, including consideration of user needs in a given space, is not so easily measurable, and the direction of development, which should reconcile the perceptions of various social groups, is ambiguous and requires extensive analysis, public consultations, and the reconciliation of economic and formal issues. A research is underway for tools that will most fully capture the grassroots needs of the local community, investors, and city authorities, facilitating the development of a common direction for urban development. This article discusses research on the Poznań University of Technology campus conducted at the Faculty of Architecture, which is part of the preparations for the creation of a participatory campus model. An innovative combination of tools was used to align the needs of the academic community with the planned spatial, infrastructural, and B&G infrastructure changes on campus. One of these was a participatory model for the development of the green Warta Campus of the University of Technology – an urban model drawing on the "social energy" of the academic community: students, doctoral candidates, and staff.
