Balancing between stakeholders expectations and policy facilities in urban logistics: A case study on food wholesalers in Paris city

Author : Ouail OULMAKKI,Jerome Verny, Dhaou Ghoul, Iskander Zouaghi, Prof. Bouazizi Youssef

Abstract : This paper analyzes the challenges of urban logistics within the Greater Paris metropolis (GPM) and defines the place of food wholesaling in the metropolitan network. The analysis of these issues is based on three key assumptions. This study draws on current urban logistics and wholesale trade in Île-de- France. It includes a case study of a wholesale company and a questionnaire survey among industry professionals to identify organizational and geographical constraints in logistics. After this study, we found that the logistics solutions put in place do not currently align with the organizational structure of wholesalers. If the town planning of the GPM takes into account the logistics, it does not act according to the sectors of activity. Food wholesalers impose a mode of organization that is not compatible with regulations and urban logistics infrastructures.
