Abstract : In this texts “Gulf of Mexico” an almost enclosed sea situated in the western extremities of the north atlantic ocean has been furnished in short. Introduction: The Gulf of Mexico is a major semi-enclosed marginal sea of the Atlantic Ocean bordered by US(Texas to Florida) Mexico and Cuba. It is an oceanic basin and marginal sea of Atlantic Ocean.The size of the Gulf basin is about 1.6 million square kilometers. Almost half of the basin consists of the shallow continental shelf waters.The name Gulf of Mexico first appeared on a world map in1550 and a historical account in 1552. The Gulf of Mexico is 41% continental slope,32%continental shelf,and 24% abyssal plain with the greatest depth of 12,467 in sigsbee Deep. The Gulf of Mexico Eastern, northern and northwestern shores lie along the US states of Florida,Alabama, mississipi, Louisiana, and Texas.
