The Philosophy Of Solid Waste Management From The Perspective Of Islamic Developmental Worldview

Abstract :The conventional philosophy of solid waste management prioritizes technical and operational aspects as the primary focus in its implementation. There are at least four main issues within the current solid waste management system: firstly, the public's lack of emphasis on environmental cleanliness; secondly, inefficient human development management; thirdly, inadequate waste storage and transportation facilities; and fourthly, conflicts in the waste disposal process. These issues present significant challenges that must be addressed to achieve sustainable solid waste management. If left unchecked, these problems may have negative impacts on both the environment and human life. Thus, this paper has two main objectives. First, to identify the philosophy behind solid waste management. Second, to analyse this philosophy from the perspective of the Islamic developmental worldview. This study employs a document analysis approach, utilizing qualitative content analysis methods. The findings indicate that the philosophy of solid waste management from an Islamic developmental perspective can be understood through four main components: the component of tawhid (oneness of God), the actors involved, the inherent values, and the ultimate objectives. In conclusion, these four components must be integrated and emphasized to develop a more effective and sustainable philosophy of solid waste management.
