F2D-R: A VM-Based Model for Preserving and Securing Medical Data
Author : Abdesselam DENNAI
Abstract :The use of Virtual Machines (VMs) in a Cloud-IaaS environment in the healthcare field, particularly for the preservation and the security of medical data such as patient symptoms, medical test and imaging results; or more generally, a patient's electronic field, offers promising opportunities. This highly sensitive medical data is increasingly vulnerable to cyberattacks, hence the importance of implementing safekeeping, security, and confidentiality techniques in a Cloud Computing environment. Blocking access to vital hospital computer systems can lead to delays in medical care and endanger patients' lives. Furthermore, phishing attacks can also lead to the leakage of patients' medical field or financial information. It is therefore essential to implement appropriate preservation and security measures to protect patients' important personal data, a less expensive solution based on virtualization. The objective of this paper is to propose a preservation and a security model in a Cloud-IaaS environment based on two phases: Fragmentation (F) of patient data, Duplication (D) of fragmented data, and Distribution (D) of these fragments across multiple virtual devices (VMs) constitute the first phase, to guarantee their preservation and security, and to ensure the integrity, accessibility, and auditability of their management system in a healthcare facility. The second phase is the data restitution based on Reconstruction (R) of patient data.
