Abstract :An Inguinal hernia is a common surgical problem that occurs due to an opening in the myofascial plain of the abdominal muscles that can allow for herniation of intraabdominal contents. These groin hernias can be divided into indirect, direct, and femoral based on location. Materials and Methods: • This study is a retrospective analytical observational study done at KDMCH, Mathura between Nov 2019 and Feb 2024, including 87 patients who had come to the surgical outpatient department for inguinal hernia repair. • Open inguinal hernia repair with various technique were performed and post operative complications were analysed in all patients. Results: The total number of patients were 87. Rt. Indirect inguinal hernia were 15 in number (17.14%). Rt. Direct inguinal hernia were18 (20.68%). Lt. Indirect inguinal hernia were 12 (13.79%). Lt. Direct inguinal hernia were 10 (11.49%). Pantaloon hernia were 10 (11.49%). Bilateral Inguinal hernia: n=22(25.28%) Conclusion: • In our study we analysed that the technique of Direct and Indirect hernia repair was cosmetically acceptable with minimal scarring and post operative complications. The cost of hernia repair, recovery, operative time and spinal anaesthesia favours the outcomes of open inguinal hernia repair same as laparoscopic hernia repair.
