Abstract :Future Time Perspective (FTP) is a psychological construct that describes an individual's perception of the future, which influences their current behavior and decision-making. Based on the socioemotional selectivity theory developed by Carstensen and Lang (1996), FTP consists of two dimensions: future as open-ended and future as limited. This study aims to develop and validate an FTP scale in the Indonesian language by designing 20 items based on these two dimensions. Data were collected from 300 high school and undergraduate students, and the analysis was conducted using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to test three models: a unidimensional model, a two correlated dimensions model, and a two uncorrelated dimensions model. The results revealed that the two correlated dimensions model provided the best fit to the data (CFI = .926, TLI = .911, RMSEA = .045, SRMR = .050), with a strong negative correlation between the dimensions (r = -.724). After eliminating low loading items, the final scale comprised 15 items with robust psychometric properties. This study contributes by providing a valid and reliable FTP measurement tool tailored to the Indonesian cultural context, opening avenues for further research in various domains.
