Colon Interposition For Corrosive Esophageal Stricture in an Adolescent Girl - A Case Report

Abstract :This case is about the Corrosive substance ingestion in an Adolescent girl , requiring replacement of oesophagus with a part of colon. Case Presentation: History: A 15-year-old girl from vellore came to the Emergency Department with the history of deliberate self harm by the consumption of Local acidic preparation used for toilet cleaning. Presenting complaints: She presented with complaints of multiple episodes of vomiting and developed blood in the vomitus on 5th episode. She was apparently well until the morning of 24th January 2025 when suddenly she decided to consume corrosive substance at around 7:15am after a quarrel with the other family members which was confessed immediately and take to nearby hospital where self-induced vomiting was attempted, she started having blood in the vomitus during the 5th episode. She was given PPI and conservative management but she developed tachycardia and tachypnea then was referred to CMC Vellore. • No relevant past history or significant family history. • She was discharged in haemodynamically stable condition with medications. • On 30th june she came to our Hospital for further management. No history of vomiting, regurgitation, cough, fever, or loose stools. • No comorbities, No history of alcohol consumption or smoking habits. No previous attempts of deliberate self harm. No history of psychiatric illness. No significant family history.
