Cannabinoids in Oral Health: Scientific Breakthroughs and Clinical Integration in Dentistry

Author : Dr. Veronica Stahl

Abstract :The emergence of cannabinoids as active agents in oral care marks a new frontier in clinical dentistry. This presentation, led by Dr. Veronica Stahl, highlights the translational integration of cannabidiol (CBD) in managing dental hypersensitivity, reducing bacterial plaque, and promoting tissue regeneration. These findings are supported by a portfolio of internationally recognized patents and peer-reviewed research. Clinical data demonstrate that CBD-infused mouthwash products achieve comparable bacterial inhibition to chlorhexidine, offering a plant-based alternative with a favorable safety profile. Moreover, CBD-supplemented polishing powders significantly enhance mechanical plaque removal, presenting a novel adjunct in prophylactic treatment. This session will explore: The pharmacological basis for CBD’s antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and osteoinductive activity Comparative outcomes of CBD versus conventional oral care products in reducing dental plaque Evidence from in vivo and in vitro studies examining hypersensitivity relief and biofilm control The potential role of cannabinoids in periodontal therapy and post-operative recovery Designed for dental clinicians, researchers, and academics, this presentation provides a comprehensive review of how cannabinoids are reshaping the clinical landscape of dentistry through validated therapeutic applications
