Effect of Micellar Bandages Containing Garlic and Sorrel

Author : Berk KILIC, Omer AYDIN

Abstract :Wound care in medical and surgical fields is a crucial and continuously evolving area in the healthcare sector [1]. In recent years, micellar wound dressings have gained increasing attention due to their potential to accelerate healing processes, effectively manage wound exudates, and reduce the risk of infection. These types of dressings not only exhibit high adhesion to wound surfaces but also have antimicrobial effects [2,3]. In our study, micellar wound dressings containing natural ingredients such as garlic and sorrel were developed to optimize wound healing. The physical and mechanical properties of these dressings were comprehensively examined, and the micellar wound dressing with the most suitable characteristics was selected. The results indicated that the sorrel solution demonstrated superior wound healing and f luid management abilities compared to the garlic solution [4,5]. Furthermore, sorrel extract was found to be an effective alternative to traditional commercial colloidal or micellar dressings containing myrrh resin and standard gauze dressings [6]. These findings once again emphasize the importance of innovative and natural-based solutions in wound care [7]
