Dry Composting Toilet Technology with Urine Separation as a Solution

Abstract :This paper presents and describes the dry composting toilet with urine separation as an efficient, effective, and environmentally friendly technology for implementation in public or private spaces without a sewage system. A study of the advantages and difficulties of its implementation, based on the Argentine experience, allows us to understand its potential as a solution. This implies a paradigm shift, where an issue traditionally considered a problem is now seen as a simple and effective solution. To achieve this objective, this paper describes the main technical concepts used, outlines the use of the dry toilet and its path to current design in Argentina, and finally, analyzes the advantages and difficulties of its implementation. Finally, it concludes with some reflections on its potential as a solution and a paradigm shift
