Green Transition and Global Value Chain Integration: The Case of Czechia

Abstract :Czechia’s deep integration into global value chains has positioned it as a key manufacturing economy within the European Union. As the country confronts the demands of the green transition, it faces both significant opportunities and structural challenges. In this paper, I examine how decarbonisation efforts and the shift toward low-carbon production may affect Czechia’s industrial landscape and external linkages. Drawing on indicators such as energy dependence, sectoral specialisation, and material inputs, I explore the conditions under which Czechia can navigate the green transition while maintaining its role in global value chains
