Enhancing future-oriented competences of logistics students: a framework for educational innovation

Abstract :In the VUCA world the work and market requirements change rapidly, differently, and to a greater extent than in the past years, affecting a greater number of individuals (Schulte et al. 2020, Soulé &Warrick 2015). Career prospects and the ‘education-future labour market fit’ are more uncertain (Lechner et al. 2016, Bakhshi et al. 2017). One of the areas undergoing significant change is logistics due to deregulation, globalisation, digitalisation, changes in consumer behaviour, and technological advances. As a result new requirements for employees in this sector are emerging: both professional and soft competences. The aspect of changing skill requirements is particularly important in relation to the role of higher education. It is necessary to adapt new methods to better shape graduates’ competences (Laidlaw et al., 2021). The paper is aimed at identifying future-oriented competences relevant to the field of logistics and developing a proposal of a framework for educational innovation within higher education with the use of future studies approaches
