Building Inter-Institutional Capacity for Collaborative Professional Development with Generative AI & Design Thinking
Author : Dr. Tris Kee
Abstract :The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) has profoundly transformed the landscape of teaching and learning in higher education, significantly enhancing the experiences of both educators and students. This proposal explores the potential of Generative AI (Gen AI) technologies to foster inter institutional capacity building, aligning with the goals of the University Grants Committee (UGC) to drive innovation in pedagogical practices. By developing AI resources through a comprehensive Professional Development Program, this initiative aims to enhance educators’ language and digital competencies, ensuring they are equipped to navigate the complexities of the AI era. The initiative focuses on three core objectives: (1) Developing AI-Enhanced Feedback and Assessment Strategies, which empower educators to implement self-assessment and collaborative learning; (2) Examining AI Ethics Through Case Studies, addressing critical issues such as academic integrity and inclusivity; and (3) Advancing Gen AI Language and Graphic Literacy, leveraging AI tools to create engaging instructional materials. Through stakeholder feedback and data analysis, the project aims to identify and address key learning challenges. Ultimately, this initiative not only strengthens digital literacy among educators but also positions higher education institutions at the forefront of AI-driven pedagogical innovation, fostering a more effective and inclusive learning environment.
