Forecasting Malaria Parasite Using Machine Learning

Abstract :Plasmodium parasite causes malaria which is an acute disease. Usually, a trained and specialized microscopist examines blood smear slide microscopic images for diagnosing the disease. This is a tedious and error prone method. We present in this paper a method that solves the issue of detecting malaria parasite automatically by performing an extensive analysis on the dataset consisting of about 27,588 images. A custom CNN model was designed and trained to correctly identify the blood cell images as either parasitized or un-infected.
