Examination Of Teachers' Perceptions Of School Climate

Author : pinar ozkan

Abstract :This study aims to examine teachers’ perceptions of organizational climate. The quantitative study consisted of 442 teachers working in different socio-economic regions in Istanbul. A simple random sampling method used to facilitate accessibility, and the Personal Information Form and School Climate Scale prepared by the researcher were used to collect the study data and determine the participants’ demographic characteristics. Descriptive statistics, t-test for pairwise data comparisons suitable for normal distribution, and ANOVA for multiple comparisons were used as analyses. It was revealed that teachers’ perception of school climate was moderate in various dimensions. As a result of the analyses, it was found that there was no significant difference in school climate perception in terms of teachers’ gender. However, significant differences were found in school climate perception, especially regarding the collegial leadership dimension according to teachers’ income levels. Teachers with the highest income group perceived school climate and collegial leadership more positively than those with lower income groups. Similarly, in line with the existing literature on school climate and teacher perceptions, there was a significant difference according to professional seniority
