Teachers' Turnover: A Bibliometric Analysis in the World Basic Educational System

Abstract :The global basic education system is facing a number of challenges, and one of them is teacher turnover. In relation to this, the purpose of this paper was to map and analyze the published literature on teacher turnover in order to provide new knowledge on this phenomenon in basic education. Incentive theory was analyzed in relation to this phenomenon. The methodology of analysis is the Prisma method based on the descriptive technique to count the number of scientific productions from the Dimensions platform, and 1.246 articles were mapped during the period 1932 to 2022. The results of the study showed practically that 2021 (13.8%), 2020 (10.8%), 2019 (9.7%) and 2022 (9.2%) were the years with the greatest number of publications on the phenomenon; then, at the level of language, English (87.1%) was the most dominant in the publication of these documents, followed by Korean (8.0%), then comes Portuguese (2.2%). At the continental level, America (51.8%) had the highest number of scientific productions, followed by Asia (28.6%), Europe (8.0%) and Africa (7.4%). The analysis by country showed that the United States (45.8%), South Korea (10.8%), China (5.1%), Kenya (3.2%), Indonesia (3.0%) and Brazil (2.9%) were the countries with the largest number of publications on this phenomenon. This work is original because of its scientific contribution and its usefulness in providing new knowledge on this phenomenon for the social involvement of educational actors. The study suggests that the States of the world considering this phenomenon to enhance the value of teachers and to improve the image of the educational system
