Monitoring Sepsis With Heart Rate Variability And EEG Using The Coresys One Monitor

Abstract :The objective of this study is to validate the CoreSys One monitor. The device records one channel of electrocardiogram (ECG) and two channels of electroencephalogram (EEG). Heart Rate Variability parameters are extracted from the ECG and low brain activity is extracted from the EEG. The intended use of the monitor is to detect the stress that the surgical intervention provokes to the patient, expressed as a higher degree of inflammation. The results showed that HF and LF increased immediately after surgical incision as compared to values in the anaesthetized state shortly before the surgery started. It is therefore concluded that the HF and LF correlate to the inflammation caused by the surgery
