Integral Art in theatrical Plays of Ivan Vyrypaev
Author : Aikaterini (Katerina) Kandylidou
Abstract :Integral Art is an artistic approach influenced by integralist philosophy, primarily developed by the 21st-century philosopher Ken Wilber. This framework seeks to synthesize diverse artistic perspectives and multiple levels of consciousness within a unified paradigm. Rather than adhering to a specific style, Integral Art functions as a meta-theory encompassing artistic expressions across cultures, historical periods, and disciplines. Ivan Vyrypaev, regarded as one of the most significant contemporary playwrights, integrates key elements of Integral Art into his dramaturgy. His works blend multiple layers of consciousness, philosophical inquiry, and diverse artistic and intellectual traditions. Transcending conventional theatrical forms, they incorporate postmodernism, existentialism, the Theatre of the Absurd, and Eastern philosophy while engaging with contemporary scientific and technological discourse. Vyrypaev employs fragmented narratives, shifting perspectives, and dialogic structures to explore reality, spirituality, and human experience. Works like Mahamaya Electronic Devices address themes of transcendence, ego dissolution, and fluid identity, aligning with integralist thought. The absence of traditional characters underscores the notion of identity as dynamic rather than fixed. Vyrypaev’s dramaturgy exemplifies Integral Art by synthesizing consciousness, philosophy, and spirituality while challenging theatrical conventions, fostering deeper engagement with contemporary existence
