Exploring the Role of AI in Higher Education: A Student-Centered Perspective

Abstract :he integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education has emerged as a transformative force, with the potential to enhance learning experiences, academic efficiency, and institutional operations. This study examines the perceptions, usage patterns, and impact of AI among students in higher education, focusing on three areas: General Perception of AI, Current Use of AI, and Impact of AI on the Student Experience. The findings indicate that students generally hold a positive view of AI’s role in education, acknowledging its capacity to personalize learning and improve accessibility. Many participants reported awareness of AI implementation within their institutions and noted direct benefits, such as increased engagement, adaptive learning tools, and improved academic support services. Additionally, the use of AI-powered platforms, chatbots, and data analysis tools appears to be gaining traction across disciplines. Overall, the study highlights a growing acceptance and perceived value of AI in academic settings, suggesting a strong foundation for its continued development and integration in higher education
