Exploration of Experiences and Factors Influencing "School to Work Transition" of New Immigrant Youths in Taiwan: Taking "First Job Attainment" as an Example

Abstract :The study, taking “first job attainment” as an example, aims at revealing the changes of social status in the social stratification of the New Immigrants youths in Taiwan as well as understanding their experiences of social interactions. To this end, this research, targeted at the second-generation new immigrants who already work in the Taiwanese society, utilized the qualitative method of interview, followed by the quantitative method to collect data. By combining the micro and macro angles, a more objective result/interpretation was obtained. Hence, this study could shed some light on whether or not the idea of “equality” has been treated well in Taiwan.
