Abstract :This research is a study of the readiness of the Faculty of Engineering, State University of Jakarta, to develop study programmes in order to face the Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) becoming an incorporated state university towards a world-class university. The development of the world of work and industry requires the readiness of universities, especially study programmes in preparing graduates with competencies according to the needs of the workforce and developing programmes that are relevant to the world of work and industry which is changing rapidly and dynamically. The Faculty of Engineering of UNJ has 20 study programmes in various fields and types of science, consisting of 1 (one) master's programme in education, 9 (nine) undergraduate programmes in education, 3 (three) undergraduate engineering programmes, and 7 (seven) applied undergraduate/diploma IV programmes. The potential to develop existing study programmes within the Faculty of Engineering of UNJ is wide open, especially to open non-educational undergraduate and/or applied undergraduate programmes, master's programmes, and doctoral programmes in vocational fields. The study programme development plan is getting stronger with the plan for UNJ to become a State University with Legal Status, which autonomously has the authority, including (1) opening, organising and closing study programmes; (2) establishing business entities and developing endowment funds; and (3) appointing and dismissing its own lecturers and education staff, based on established laws and regulations. The results of the research are used as material in developing potential study programmes. One form is the development of study programmes to a higher level based on specified criteria. The criteria are (1) feasibility study of community needs, (2) curriculum, (3) lecturers as the main human resources in higher education, and (4) management and management by the faculty. This research specifically examines the readiness to develop a master's programme in Technology and Vocational Education, which has the opportunity to develop into a doctoral programme.
