The role of play in the development of children with special needs

Abstract :The education of children with special needs has been largely ignored until the last few years, but with the change of the world order, the importance of access and meritorious treatment of children with special needs is being noticed more and more every day. The group that most needs the creation of equal opportunities in education are children with special needs. It is possible for individuals with special needs to become active members of society by taking measures such as minimizing the limitations of the environment in which they live. These and similar conclusions have brought to light the expression of the educational environment, less restrictive, rich in toys and inclusive. Therefore, based on the importance that should be given to the education of children with special needs, the purpose of this study is to examine the game practices for achieving educational goals with children with special needs. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, namely the role of games in the development of children with special needs, the most contemporary literature of national and international authors dealing with games and its impact on the all-round development of children was examined, with a view of children with special needs. In addition to the theoretical analysis, in order to fulfill the goals of the study, in the empirical aspect, the attitudes of educators were also taken on the variety of games and game tools useful in the development of children with special needs. Through this paper, important conclusions will be drawn regarding the attitudes of educators regarding the variety of games and play tools useful in the development of children with special needs, and on the basis of these conclusions, recommendations will be given to parents and institutions that deal with the education of children of preschool age.
